A Historical Gem with a Heart-warming Legacy

Foreshore House is more than just a property; it is a place steeped in history and filled with memories of compassion and community. This charming house was generously bequeathed by a kind-hearted doctor to the Crusade of Rescue, a Catholic children's charity dedicated to providing care and support to those in need. From the late 1950s until 1983, Foreshore House served as a haven for children in care and a retreat for nuns and sisters seeking solace and relaxation.

A Sanctuary for Children and Sisters

During its years of service, Foreshore House opened its doors to children from London, offering them a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for summer holidays filled with joy and adventure. These children, many of whom were in care, found a safe and nurturing environment at Littlestone-on-Sea. The house echoed with their laughter as they enjoyed the seaside, made new friends, and created lasting memories.

The nuns and sisters of the Crusade of Rescue also found peace and tranquility at Foreshore House. They would come for retreats, taking the time to reflect, pray, and rejuvenate their spirits. The serene surroundings and the comforting atmosphere of the house made it an ideal location for spiritual renewal.

A New Chapter

In 1983, Foreshore House was sold and began a new chapter in its storied history. Over the years, it passed through several owners and served various purposes, including a care home for young adults with learning disabilities. Despite these changes, the house retained its welcoming and nurturing character, continuing to be a place where people found care and support.

Today, Foreshore House is owned by Dino, who has maintained the property’s tradition of warmth and hospitality. The house stands as a testament to its rich history, ready to welcome new visitors and provide them with a memorable stay.

A Personal Connection

My name is Paul, and I am one of the fortunate children who had the privilege of visiting Foreshore House every summer for two weeks. Those holidays at Littlestone-on-Sea were some of the happiest moments of my childhood. I remember the excitement of arriving at the house, the fun-filled days at the beach, and the sense of freedom and adventure. The experiences and friendships I made there are cherished memories that I hold dear to this day.

Now, I am delighted to have the opportunity to return to Foreshore House and relive those wonderful times. It feels like coming home, and I am grateful to be able to share this special place with others.
